Neighborhood Guide · Enumclaw, WA
Enumclaw: farm country at the foot of Mount Rainier.
The eastern gateway to Mount Rainier, with a historic downtown, a working agricultural plateau, and a slower, outdoorsy pace that families and commuters both appreciate.
What Enumclaw is like
A real small town with Mount Rainier at the end of the street.
Enumclaw sits at the base of Mount Rainier at the eastern edge of King County. It began in 1885 as a Northern Pacific Railroad siding and grew into a logging, dairy, and poultry town, a heritage still visible in the historic downtown's brick storefronts, farm supply shops, and the longtime Mutual of Enumclaw headquarters.
Today Enumclaw is the gateway to Mount Rainier National Park via the Chinook and Naches passes, and the Chinook Scenic Byway starts right here. Residents get the classic Plateau mix: agricultural land and horse properties minutes from a downtown with restaurants, wine tasting rooms, a distillery, and craft beer.
The city is served by the Enumclaw School District, which also covers parts of Black Diamond and Ravensdale. For buyers who want more land, a genuine small town, and mountain views, Enumclaw offers some of the best value in the region.
